WeMov

What ?

Wemov is a Firefox extension which allow you to easily navigate on internet and display picture with device like remote controller or Nintendo WiiMote.
I made this extension for a curse of Interface Design, in 2009 with 3 other people.

Why ?

Today, computer are everywhere. When there is setup in a living room, you don’t really know where tidy the keyboard and the mouse. And it is not very handy. If you have a remote control it is better. But the software aren’t design to do that. And how about typing some text ?

So we found two use cases : the Internet navigation and picture sideshow.

More over, the sideshow is design to be used in a presentation to replace Power Point. We add a drawing function, which allow the speaker to make a more interactive presentation.

Features

The add-on is written in french and in english.
The add-on is written in XUL, CSS, and JavaScript. When we did it, we respect all the advice of Mozilla, it was working well on Firefox 3.5 beta, on a Windows computer. The sideshow use the HTML5 canvas functionnality.
The add-on use the upgrade system.

Keyboard:

• A virtual keyboard appear when you click on a textbox, or text area as well as in the search box
• Enable or disable the virtual keyboard
• Easily download new keyboard

Sideshow:

• Open one picture
• Open a directory of pictures
• Accept JPG, PNG and BMP
• Picture are resize automatically to fit the size of the windows
• Manual or automatic change
• Set the time between two pictures in an automatic sideshow
• Draw rectangle on a picture
• zoom in / zoom out
• Keyboard shortcut
• …
