The installation of the plugin is very easy .
Install the plugin
Use the way you like : download the zip from the WordPress Website, upload the unzip directory with your FTP Client, or upload the zip with the tools inside WordPress …
Activate the plugin
Just activate the plugin.
Create the media-sitemap directory
With your favorite FTP client, create a directory “media-sitemap” in the root of your WordPress installation.
The name is important. It must be media-sitemap
Your root directory should looks like this one :

Change the permission of the directory to 0777.

I tried the same as you mentioned here but no luck!
When i move files to wp-content folder, it shows wp-media-sitemap in plugins but after activate, it gives me following error,
media-sitemap/is missing ! Please create it and put permission to 766
No media sitemap found. The files are generated when the content of your blog change.
I changed folder permission as per instructions, but it is not working.
Please help, For your information, I am using Hostgator service.

the recent update got my images sitemap working, however the video sitemap is now broken! The images sitemap now gets accepted by Google, but the video has a caution symbol!

Same error for me.
Note that it created a file called img_sitemap0.xml but it didn’t create the index file.

Mate could you not remove your plugin from the wordpress plugins directory? This is such a waste of time…
yup, I agree with you Flora. If you no longer support your plugin, you could remove your plugin from the wordpress plugins directory
